Nashville Part II

by Logan on April 29, 2010

The second half of my trip to Nashville included a lot of rain and a lot of fun. Ali took me to some local spots and I got to meet up (and geek out) with Erin, a friend and fellow BSU grad also living in Nashville.

My friends and family keep telling me I travel a lot. I don’t know exactly how to respond, but I do know that it’s been fun. I’ll do whatever it takes to make it so I can travel in the future, and hopefully I can make trips with some of those friends and family.

See, Ali isn't always scared of the camera. This is outside the Loveless Cafe, a great spot to grab some southern cooking at its best.

We ate at the Pancake Pantry, which is near Vanderbilt. The place is so popular that there’s usually a line that snakes its way outside. Thankfully, we went at an odd time when it was raining so the wait was only about 10 minutes. It’s the best breakfast I’ve ever had. Yum.

This is my attempt at an artistic shot with a point and shoot. Not bad, if I do say so myself.

We also visited BookMan and BookWoman, a couple of used book shops owned by a husband and wife duo. The place was huge and somewhat overwhelming, even for a book lover like me.

I picked up "Grammar Can Be Fun" and was surprised to find it was from my hometown library. Small world.

During the trip, my Aunt Sandy suggested a place called the Loveless Cafe via Facebook. Ali had heard of it but never been, so we made a day out of it. The restaurant used to be attached to a hotel, but no more. Now the area is full of little shops selling everything from fine art to bicycles. The food was amazing (I had fried chicken livers with gravy, fried okra and mashed potatoes with gravy). It was absolutely wonderful.

One of the shop owners must have been a Tim Burton fan. I wanted to buy it, but they wouldn't sell it to me.

Ali had to get a photo with it too, of course.

That’s pretty much it for my trip to Nashville. It was fun to be there, but even better to spend time with good friends. I suspect it will always be the people, not the places, who give me reason to travel.
