Camaro detailing and photo fun
by Logan on May 17, 2010
The second half of my weekend was devoted to cleaning up my car and taking some more fun photos in the process.
Here’s how it’s going to go: One fun photo now, then the car, then the rest of the photos. Sound like a plan? If not, too bad
I worked at Mike’s Express Carwash through high school. I used the money from the job to buy a 1997 Chevrolet Z28 Camaro. The carwash job mean I always had a clean looking car. Add that to the Zaino Show Car Polish (it’s the best way to care for the paint on your car, without a doubt) and I had a pretty sweet looking ride.
Things changed when I went away to college. I didn’t have the time to devote to cleaning up my car every other weekend, so I didn’t. I finally got to detail my car properly after about a year and a half of neglect. Here are the results, from start to finish.

As you can see, the car doesn't look bad even before I started. That's the Zaino from a year and a half ago doing its job.

When you get close up, however, you can see how filthy the car really is. This literally makes me cringe.

Even the wheels were dirty. If you look really close you might be able to see a certain wanna-be photographer in the reflection.

This is the result of a wash at Mike's Carwash. They do a great job, which is why they're the only carwash I've ever taken the Camaro through. I don't know what I'm going to do in Austin...

This is still before I put any polish on it. Eventually I'm going to do three layers of Zaino, which is the maximum they recommend for one day.

The polish leaves a nice haze on the car that's extremely easy to wipe off. It's much better than those thick waxes some people use.

I polished the wheels and cleaned up the inside of the car while I was waiting for the Zaino to dry. Those wheels look good, despite the guy with the camera.
That’s all for the Camaro photos. If you love your car you should use Zaino to take care of it. If my car doesn’t convince you I don’t know what will.
I ended up playing with my Pops’ camera set-up whenever I could, even when I was detailing the car. These are the fun shots I got (mostly of Palmer the Super puppy, with a couple of other photos at the end).

Palmer the Super puppy does not like the camera. He either tries to eat it (nothing new with him) or thinks it's playtime whenever you point it at him. I still managed to get a few shots though.

Pops was cleaning off the grill so it was hard for Palmer to focus. He managed to stay like a good boy though

This is when he decided the photoshoot was over and it was time for him to try to eat the lens. I love Palmer!

I can only imagine this pine cone is leftover from winter. I found it on the deck and decided to play with the 60mm macro lens. Pretty cool.
That’s all for this weekend. Let me know what you think of the photos in the comments. I want a Big Boy Camera so bad…
