Austin arrival
by Logan on May 31, 2010
I made it to Austin this morning. Here’s what the drive did to me:

The world was a bit surreal during this photo. I was still wired from the drive but my body knew it was time for rest.
I could write thousands of words about the trip down here. Frankly, I’m too tired (even after a four-hour nap) to do that. So here are the essentials:
I drove for 24 hours, 18 minutes and covered 1,187.2 miles.
I stopped six times for gas, two times to nap, one time to eat a meal and one time in Dallas to pick up my key and parking pass for the apartment I’m subleasing.
I saw someone hit a deer in Indiana. The deer limped away and the damage to the car was minimal.
I watched a semi’s tire explode in front of me. At first I thought the pop was from one of my tires. The driver pulled over like it was no big deal, which is probably the case after the first few times it happens to you.
I depleted and recharged my phone’s battery four times during the trip.
I loved the drive.
I will budget in more rest stops the next time.
That’s all for now. I’m going to try to find time to take the camera out and about sometime this week. Austin is awesome, I’m so happy to be here!

You also had a gazillion 1 second calls from me due to the awful T-Mobile coverage at my dad’s house. Sorry!
